I love reframing what we see on the sale like this! Super helpful for the mental game. How do you feel about the scales that show multiple metrics (body fat %, water retention etc)? What would be the best way to measure progress? I hate progress pictures :)

Evan, a goal that brings many of us to fitness is (of course) “looking better.” If that’s the goal, obviously fat loss can be helpful, but do you think that adding muscle may actually be even more important than losing fat (at least to start)?

This makes me think about the phrase: “if you decide to chase two rabbits at once, you’ll end up with neither” (please don’t quote me on the validity of this 🤣) BUT training is the same.

Most people who want to look better (valid goal btw!) would be more successful breaking their journey into two parts:

1) losing fat via calorie deficit to reveal the muscle they do have and see their definition/shape until they are at a satisfied place: “I look and feel good”

2) then pivot to building muscle

*there is a post coming down the pipeline about this and navigating between dieting/building and cycling between*

woof. the reframing is great. so important to think about all of this with a holistic lens and realize that nutrition is such a strong component. glad I am not the only who who is frenemies with my scale.
